“Police Arrest Accomplice in Viral Naira Abuse Video Involving Okoya’s Children”

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has responded to the viral video showing two sons of Lagos-based billionaire industrialist, Chief Razak Okoya-Thomas, engaging in what the authorities described as the abuse of the country’s currency. In the video, the Okoya brothers are seen holding and spraying large amounts of N1,000 banknotes.

The police also confirmed that the officer seen in the video, who was holding the bundles of cash for the two men, has been identified and detained for further disciplinary action.

This update was shared by the NPF on its official Facebook page on Friday morning. However, the police did not provide specific details on what consequences the Okoya brothers themselves might face for their actions.

“The policeman seen in the viral video with the sons of Lagos businessman Chief Okoya, where they were seen abusing the Naira, has been identified and is currently being detained for disciplinary action,” the police stated. “We condemn the involvement of the officer, as this conduct is unethical. The Police Force is committed to upholding the sanctity and credibility of the force and will continue to enforce its core values.”

The video has sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some users criticizing the wealthy individuals for flaunting their wealth in the face of widespread poverty, while others defended their right to live as they choose.
