‘You’re A Kidnapper,’ APC Praise Singer Rarara Taunts Niger Republic Junta Leader Tchiani
Dauda Kahutu, also known as Rarara, a praise singer associated with Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has publicly taunted General Abdourahamane Tchiani, leader of the military junta in Niger Republic, calling him a “kidnapper” and demanding the immediate release of ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.
In a viral video, Rarara addressed a crowd in Hausa, denouncing Tchiani for his actions and accusing him of bringing disgrace to the military. He criticized the junta leader for hiding rather than confronting the ongoing crisis in Niger.
“By God’s grace, Bazoum will be released from the shackles of this kidnapper. The people of Niger have also realized that Tchiani is nothing but a kidnapper,” Rarara proclaimed.
The singer further revealed that he had given Tchiani a 20-day ultimatum to free Bazoum and restore civilian rule in Niger. According to Rarara, his efforts have already begun to bear fruit, as he believes Tchiani is taking steps to resolve the situation.
“When I began this crusade, some people thought I was insignificant, but now they see the results,” Rarara said. “I gave him 20 days, but he is already making moves to resolve the matter within a few days.”
He also mocked Tchiani’s actions, accusing him of cowardice. “We know a soldier is always ready to face any challenge, but he is a disappointment to the title. He wears the uniform and hides in the bathroom. This shows we are making progress,” Rarara claimed.
Rarara, who is based in Kano, vowed to continue his prayers and advocacy for the release of President Bazoum and the restoration of civilian rule in Niger.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens applauding his bold stance, while others have questioned his understanding of the complex political dynamics in Niger Republic.
LEADERSHIP recalls that President Bazoum was ousted in a military coup in July 2023 and has been under house arrest ever since, amid mounting regional and international pressure on the junta to release him and restore constitutional order in the country.
