The member representing Ideato North/South federal constituency in Imo State, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, has congratulated Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his election as the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Azuta-Mbata, a former senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, was selected as the leader of the Igbo socio-cultural organization on Friday during the selection of new executives at the Old Government Lodge in Enugu.
In his reaction, Ugochinyere emphasized that Azuta-Mbata’s emergence, despite being from Rivers State in the South-South geopolitical zone, signifies the unity of the Igbo people, irrespective of regional distinctions. He stated that this move reflects the indivisible bond that unites Igbos, both within the Southeast and across the country.
Ugochinyere, who is also the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), expressed confidence in Azuta-Mbata’s leadership abilities. He noted that as a former lawmaker in the National Assembly, Azuta-Mbata brings valuable experience and leadership qualities that will be pivotal in leading Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
“I heartily congratulate and identify with Distinguished Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his emergence as the new President-General of the Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. His emergence, though from South-South, is a testimony and affirmation of the fact that Igbos are one united and indivisible people devoid of regional colouration,” Ugochinyere remarked.
Ugochinyere urged Azuta-Mbata to use his vast political and leadership experience to guide the Igbo race towards a new economic era, fostering unity, peace, and prosperity among the Igbo people.
