Lakurawa Kills 2 Immigration Officers, 1 Civilian In Kebbi Border Attack
In a recent wave of violence, Lakurawa terrorists have launched an unprovoked attack on the Kangiwa border in Kebbi State, leaving two immigration officers and one civilian dead.
A security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the attack occurred on Saturday in the Kangiwa local government area of Kebbi State. The assault took place near a site designated for the installation of a transmitting mast, which was planned to monitor border movements and relay real-time data to a central system.
According to the source, “The armed immigration officers were at the location for the mast installation when the armed group struck, killing two of their officers and one civilian.”
Efforts to obtain official responses from the Kebbi State Police Command and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have been unsuccessful. Calls and text messages to Kebbi State Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, and the NIS representative remained unanswered.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Immigration Service nor the police had issued a formal statement regarding the attack.
