JUST-IN: 19 Wedding Guests Killed, 11 Injured in Plateau Accident

A tragic accident in the Kwanan Maciji area of Pankshin Local Government Area, Plateau State, claimed the lives of 19 people and left 11 others injured over the weekend.

The victims, who had traveled from Kano State to attend a wedding in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau, were on their way back home when the accident occurred on Saturday.

John Dasar, Chairman of the Pankshin Local Government Area Emergency Management Committee, confirmed the incident, describing it as devastating. He explained that the victims had chosen a shorter route through Gindiri to Bauchi State when their vehicle crashed.

“In the aftermath of the crash, bystanders rushed to assist in evacuating the passengers, but the vehicle suddenly caught fire,” Dasar said. “Tragically, 19 of the occupants were trapped inside and burnt beyond recognition. The driver and a few others managed to escape.”

The 11 survivors, some with serious injuries, were quickly transported to Pankshin General Hospital for medical treatment.
