Security Agents Kill 5 Suspected Armed Secessionists in Anambra

A joint team of police, military, and other security agencies has killed five members of an armed gang suspected to be part of a secessionist group in Anambra State. The operation took place at Umugem Road, Ufuma, in Orumba North Local Government Area at approximately 12:30 pm on Tuesday.

According to the state police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the security operatives also destroyed the criminals’ camp and recovered several items, including four undetonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two AK47 assault rifles, a pump-action gun, one 75-volt battery, and other incriminating materials.

SP Ikenga noted that some members of the gang managed to escape with varying degrees of bullet wounds, and security forces are actively tracking them down. He credited the success of the operation to the effective coordination and collaboration among the different security agencies involved.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, appealed to the public for continued cooperation in the fight against criminal elements, urging the people of the area to be more patriotic in efforts to reclaim their communities and prevent these groups from causing further unrest in the state.
