In a statement, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed that President Tinubu extended the invitation during their bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025. Tinubu, who arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday as a guest of the UAE president, participated in the event, which serves as a global platform for discussing sustainable development and addressing challenges such as climate change, water shortages, and energy crises.

During their discussions, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed gratitude for Tinubu’s visit and affirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Nigeria. The two leaders also discussed ways to attract increased investment into Nigeria.
Tinubu emphasized that his administration’s economic reforms are beginning to bear fruit, citing recent investments from international companies, including oil majors, as a sign of renewed confidence in Nigeria’s economic prospects. He urged the UAE to collaborate with Nigeria in further developing the country’s economy.
The Nigerian president also thanked Sheikh Al Nahyan for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation since their arrival in the UAE.
Joining President Tinubu in the meeting were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. Sheikh Mohamed was accompanied by several senior UAE officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and H.H.
