Wike Revokes Land Allocations for Uzodimma, Abbas, Onyejeocha, Akume’s Wife, and 564 Others in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has officially revoked the land allocations for several prominent individuals, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and the wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Regina Akume, along with 564 others.

In a statement issued by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, it was revealed that the revocation of the Right of Ownership (R-of-O) for the affected allottees was due to their failure to pay the necessary Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills within the given timeframe.

Wike explained that the allottees were initially given a two-week grace period in October 2024 to settle their bills, which was later extended. However, despite the extended grace period, 568 individuals remained in default by the new deadline of January 15, 2025.

This recent move follows a similar revocation process that took place three weeks ago, when 762 plots of land were withdrawn from their respective allottees for the same reason.

Among the high-profile individuals affected by the latest revocation are:

  • Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State
  • Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State
  • Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen
  • Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Senator Ibrahim Hadejia
  • Former Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade
  • Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele
  • Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro
  • Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha
  • Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment, John Eno
  • Chairperson/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa
  • The late Sports Minister, Bala Kaoje
  • Regina Akume, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume

Wike emphasized that the government would continue to uphold the rule of law and ensure that all land allocations in the FCT are properly managed and paid for, in line with the regulations governing land ownership and administration in the territory.

The revocations are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that all landowners in the FCT fulfill their financial obligations, with the government making clear that failure to comply with payment requirements would result in forfeiture of land allocations.
