Gunmen Abduct Wife of Retired AIG Odumosu in Ogun

In the early hours of Friday, Mrs. Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Hakeem Odumosu, was abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Arepo, a town in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The incident occurred as Mrs. Odumosu was returning home from an outing. As she approached the gate of her residence, four masked gunmen, armed and firing sporadically into the air, ambushed her. They dragged her from her Lexus Jeep and forced her through a swampy area into an unknown location.

Police Response

The Ogun State Police Command swiftly responded to the incident. Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, confirmed the kidnapping and assured that the authorities were taking immediate action. Police operatives were promptly deployed to the scene to secure her release.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) has led a team of officers to the scene, and they are currently combing the swampy bush area where the kidnappers may have taken her,” Odutola said.

She also revealed that the DPO had reached out to local leaders, including the Baale of Warewa and the Baale of Maaba, to deploy community security personnel to assist in the search efforts.

Additionally, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Lanre Ogunlowo, has been briefed on the situation, and covert operations involving digital intelligence have been activated to track down the kidnappers and ensure Mrs. Odumosu’s safe return.

Community and Family Concerns

The kidnapping has raised concerns in the community, given the prominence of the victim’s husband, Hakeem Odumosu, who is a respected former high-ranking officer in the Nigeria Police Force. This has added an emotional and security dimension to the case, with many hoping for a swift resolution.

As investigations and rescue operations continue, the police have called for cooperation from the public and local security agencies to ensure the safe return of Mrs. Odumosu and bring the perpetrators to justice.
