Rep Kofa Seeks Reconciliation Between Kwankwaso and Ganduje

The member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano and Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Housing and Habitat, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has called for an immediate reconciliation between two former governors of Kano State, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Kofa described the ongoing feud between the two prominent political figures as “unfortunate and detrimental” to the progress of the state. He emphasized the urgency of healing the rift for the betterment of Kano and urged well-meaning citizens to support reconciliation efforts.

Call for Unity

In a radio interview in Kano, Kofa stressed the need for unity between the political heavyweights, noting that their collaboration could bring immense benefits to the state. He said, “We will do our level best to ensure that they reconcile, no matter what. When these two mega powers join forces, it will benefit the progress of Kano State. I believe they can work towards development, while maintaining their different political inclinations.”

Kofa also acknowledged the significant contributions of both Kwankwaso and Ganduje to public service, recognizing their shared history of dedication to the state’s and nation’s development.

A Plea for Peace

The lawmaker, reflecting on the situation, added that as Muslims, it is their duty to ensure reconciliation. “They were once close friends and accomplished many things together. What is happening now is sad and painful, so we should all work towards ensuring that peace and unity prevail,” Kofa said.

To further demonstrate goodwill, Kofa proposed a personal initiative between the two leaders. He suggested that they attend each other’s family events despite their political differences. “Let us see Kwankwaso attending the wedding of Ganduje’s daughter and Ganduje attending the wedding of Kwankwaso’s son. Politics is their choice, but reconciliation is our duty,” he emphasized.

The Ongoing Feud

The dispute between Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general election, and Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has deeply divided political loyalists in Kano. The two men wield significant influence in the state, and their rift has polarized many.

Kofa’s appeal for reconciliation highlights the growing calls for unity in the state, with many urging that both leaders put aside personal differences for the sake of Kano’s future.
