JUST-IN: Tanker Explosion Kills Many In Niger
A tanker explosion occurred at Dikko Junction, located on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State on Saturday morning around 10 am, resulting in the deaths of dozens and injuring several others.
Reports suggest that the high fatality rate was due to people gathering around the tanker to scoop the spilled fuel when the explosion took place.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed the incident, but noted that the exact number of fatalities had not yet been determined.
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, expressed concern over the recurring incidents of tanker explosions in the state, highlighting the growing danger.
