First Lady Mourns Victims of Niger Tanker Explosion
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, has expressed her heartfelt condolences over the tragic fuel tanker explosion that occurred on Saturday, January 18, at Dikko Junction, Niger State. The devastating incident claimed several lives and left many others injured.
In a statement released on Sunday, Senator Tinubu conveyed her sorrow and sympathy to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, the families of the victims, and the people of Niger State.
“I condole with the Governor, His Excellency Mohammed Umar Bago, the families and loved ones of the departed souls, the injured, and the entire people of Niger State,” she said.
Call for Caution
In her statement, the First Lady also urged Nigerians to be extra cautious around accident scenes, particularly those involving vehicles transporting highly flammable substances. She stressed the high risks associated with such incidents.
“I urge everyone to please be more cautious and avoid scenes of accidents, especially involving vehicles conveying inflammable substances, due to the high risks involved,” she advised.
Prayers for the Bereaved
Senator Tinubu offered prayers for the families who lost loved ones in the explosion, as well as for the speedy recovery of the injured.
“God bless Niger State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” she concluded.
The explosion, which occurred at a highly trafficked junction, has raised concerns about the safety protocols in place for transporting hazardous materials, and the First Lady’s statement serves as both a message of support to the victims’ families and a call for greater vigilance on the roads.
