Niger Tanker Explosion Victims Moved To Abuja Tertiary Hospitals For Advanced Care
In a swift response to the recent fuel tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Niger State, President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate transfer of victims to advanced medical facilities in Abuja for better care. As a result, 20 victims of the tragic incident have been admitted to the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, one of the tertiary medical institutions in the capital.
In a statement issued on Monday, Rabiu Ibrahim, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, confirmed the move. Additionally, he stated that two more victims had been transferred to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja, for specialized treatment.
To ensure that the victims received the best possible care, Ibrahim mentioned that all patients were accompanied by nurses and family members during their transfer to the referral centers.
The Niger State government expressed gratitude to the federal government for its swift and effective response to the explosion, which has left many critically injured. The federal government has been praised for prioritizing the health and well-being of the victims in the aftermath of the explosion.
The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation has assured Nigerians that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide regular updates on the condition of the victims as necessary. The ministry also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing adequate support to the victims’ families.
The tanker explosion, which occurred at the busy Dikko Junction in Niger State, has resulted in significant casualties, with many victims suffering from severe burns and injuries.
