Gov Rejoices As Kwara-born Fatima Emerges ICAN’s 2024 Best Qualifying Candidate
Fatima Azumi Isa, a Kwara State native, has been named the best qualifying candidate for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) 2024 November Diet examination. The achievement marks a remarkable milestone in Fatima’s academic and professional journey.
A native of Lafiagi in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, Fatima, who graduated with a First Class in Accounting from Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, cleared all five papers of the ICAN examination in one sitting, securing the highest overall average score among all candidates nationwide.
Fatima’s success will be celebrated at the next ICAN induction, where she is set to receive three prestigious awards: the ICAN Merit Prize for the best overall professional-level candidate, the SWAN Prize for the best qualifying female candidate in the Diet, and the Akintola Williams Deloitte and Touche Prize for the best qualifying candidate.
A family source shared that Fatima’s journey to success began with an outstanding performance in the IJMB Advanced Level examinations, where she was recognized as one of the top candidates. In the 2023/2024 academic year, she represented Igbinedion University in the national ICAN Accountancy Challenge, competing against universities and polytechnics across Nigeria and securing third place in the qualifiers.
In response to Fatima’s achievement, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has joined the family, friends, and the people of the state in celebrating her outstanding success.
The governor expressed his pride in Fatima’s accomplishments and praised her for making both her family and the people of Kwara State proud. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor also extended his congratulations to Fatima’s parents, Alhaji Abubakar Yaya Isa, a retired deputy accountant general of Kwara State, and Hajia Adama Isa, for instilling values of excellence in their daughter.
