Oyebanji Sets Safest State Agenda For Ekiti’s New CP
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has tasked the newly appointed Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, CP Joseph Eribo, with reinforcing the state’s policing strategies to ensure it remains one of the safest and most investment-friendly states in Nigeria.
Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of safety and security, highlighting that his administration places high priority on the well-being of Ekiti residents and their property. He commended the efforts of the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies in contributing to the state’s current status as one of the safest in the country.
The governor made these remarks during a meeting with the police top brass at his office in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State Capital, on Thursday. Represented by his deputy, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, Oyebanji noted that effective policing plays a crucial role in fostering development and ensuring the state’s continuous growth.
“We are committed to maintaining peace across all 16 local governments in Ekiti. The dedication of our police officers and the support of Ekiti residents have played a key role in achieving our status as one of Nigeria’s safest states,” the governor said.
He called on the new CP to work closely with other law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to sustain law and order, while reiterating that “nobody is above the law.”
CP Joseph Eribo, for his part, pledged to continue building on the existing partnership between the state government and the police in a bid to tackle crime effectively. He also urged citizens to assist the police by providing information that could help expose criminals in the community.
“The police command will continue its efforts to collaborate with other security agencies to keep Ekiti safe for all its residents,” Eribo assured.
In addition, the deputy governor promised that the state government would provide necessary incentives to support the police and other security agencies in carrying out their duties effectively.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between the police, government, and residents in maintaining peace and security, which are crucial to the state’s development and attractiveness to investors.
