Police FCID Gets New Boss As IGP Decorates DIG Towuru

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, officially decorated the newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Jonathan Towuru at the Police Force Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday. This ceremony marks a significant shift in the structure of the Nigerian Police Force.

Following his promotion, IGP Egbetokun has appointed DIG Towuru as the new head of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), tasked with enhancing the department’s efforts to tackle complex criminal investigations and improve crime management nationwide.

In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday, the IGP highlighted that DIG Towuru’s wealth of experience and outstanding service made him the right choice for the critical role at this juncture. His appointment is expected to strengthen the capacity of the FCID in its mission to maintain law and order effectively.

“DIG Towuru’s posting comes at a crucial time as the FCID works to refine its approach to criminal investigations, improve its operations, and meet the evolving security needs of the nation,” the statement read.

New Leadership Appointments in Kogi and Edo

As part of broader strategic changes, IGP Egbetokun also announced the deployment of two new Commissioners of Police (CPs). CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye will take over as Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, while CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin will assume the role of Commissioner of Police in Edo State. These postings are aimed at enhancing leadership and strengthening the operational capacity of the police in these states.

The IGP emphasized the importance of strong leadership and effective policing in combating crime and ensuring public safety. He expressed confidence in the abilities of the newly posted officers to lead their respective teams with integrity, diligence, and a commitment to justice.

“The new appointments and postings are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen our national security architecture and improve the quality of policing across the country. The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to its mission of providing effective service to the public, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring the safety of every citizen,” the IGP said.

Through these changes, the Police Force aims to elevate standards in criminal investigation, security management, and community service, reinforcing its commitment to delivering justice and maintaining public order across the nation.
