EFCC Lifts Arrest Warrant Against Mercy Chinwo’s Former Manager, Eezee Tee
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) withdrew its arrest warrant against Ezekiel Onyedikachi, better known as Eezee Tee, the former manager of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, on Friday.
This decision came after Justice Alexander Owoeye had issued the bench warrant for Eezee Tee’s arrest last week, following an ex parte application filed by the EFCC.
However, in a request made by the commission’s counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, the EFCC sought the withdrawal of the arrest warrant.
The dispute stems from allegations made by Mercy Chinwo, who accused Eezee Tee of diverting $345,000 in royalties from her digital platforms and events. In response, Eezee Tee took to Instagram, accusing Chinwo of ingratitude and breaching their contract.
The decision to lift the warrant followed an appeal by Eezee Tee’s legal team, who explained that their client had not been aware of the previous summons and promised his voluntary appearance in court. The EFCC agreed to the withdrawal, on the condition that Eezee Tee will attend all future court hearings.
With the matter resolved, the case has been adjourned to February 14, 2025, for Eezee Tee’s arraignment.
