Tinubu Appoints Ganduje Chairman of FAAN, Names 41 Others to Key Positions

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of 42 new chairpersons for various federal agencies, alongside a new secretary for the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services Board. Additionally, a new Managing Director for the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and a Director-General for the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) have also been appointed.

These appointments, which were made public in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, are effective immediately.

Key highlights include the appointment of Hon. Hillard Eta (from Cross River) as Chairman of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi (from Lagos) as Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA). Former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has been named Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Other significant appointments include Sen. Magnus Abe (Rivers) as Chairman of the National Agency for Great Green Wall, and Sen. Surajudeen Bashiru Ajibola (Osun) as Chairman of the National Sugar Development Council. Raji Kazeem Kolawole (Oyo) has been appointed Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation.

In his message to the newly appointed chairpersons, President Tinubu reminded them that their roles are non-executive in nature. He emphasized that they are tasked with providing strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of their respective agencies, without meddling in day-to-day management.

These appointments reflect President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening governance frameworks and promoting national development through effective and competent leadership.
