Tinubu Mourns Ex-FCT Minister Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow at the death of Lieutenant-General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, the former Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who passed away on Thursday at the age of 82.

In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, military colleagues, and political associates of Lt. Gen. Useni. The late general was not only a former governor of old Bendel State, but also served as Minister of Transport, Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army, and deputy national chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). He also represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

President Tinubu lauded Lt. Gen. Useni for his exceptional courage and unwavering commitment to service throughout his military career, noting that his leadership inspired many young officers to place national interests above personal ambitions.

The President also recognized the late general’s significant contributions to Nigerian politics and public service, highlighting his role in shaping national discourse as a senator and political leader.

Tinubu prayed that God Almighty grant Lt. Gen. Useni’s soul eternal rest and provide comfort to his grieving family and loved ones during this difficult time.
