UNILORIN Appoints Oloyede, Obafemi, Akanji as Emeritus Professors
The Senate of the University of Ilorin has approved the appointment of three distinguished retired professors as Emeritus Professors of the institution. The appointees are Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB); Prof. Olu Obafemi; and Prof. Musbau Akanji.
UNILORIN’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, announced the appointments, stating that they were approved during the University’s 304th Senate meeting.
Emeritus Professor Oloyede, who retired from the University of Ilorin in October 2024, previously served as the university’s Vice Chancellor. He is currently the Registrar of JAMB.
Emeritus Professor Obafemi, a renowned scholar in English and Dramatic Literature, retired from UNILORIN in 2020 after a distinguished academic career.
Emeritus Professor Akanji, a leading scholar in Biochemistry, had a remarkable tenure, having served as the Vice Chancellor of both Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and the Federal University of Technology, Minna. He retired in 2021.
These appointments recognize the significant contributions made by these scholars to the academic and administrative development of the University of Ilorin.
