Governors Mourn the Death of Makinde’s Brother

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Engineer Sunday Makinde, the older brother of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

Engineer Sunday Makinde passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the age of 65.

In a statement on behalf of the 36 state governors, NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Makinde, the Makinde family, and the people of Oyo State.

“Engineer Sunday Makinde’s exemplary life of service and dedication will forever remain an inspiration to all who knew him,” the statement read.

The NGF expressed its unwavering support for Governor Makinde during this difficult time and offered prayers for the repose of his brother’s soul.

The Forum also prayed for comfort and strength for the Makinde family and all those mourning the loss of Engineer Sunday Makinde.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to serve as a beacon of love and unity,” the statement concluded.
