Enugu Tragedy: President Tinubu Calls for Safer Measures to Prevent Tanker Explosions
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the government and people of Enugu State following the tragic fuel tanker explosion that claimed lives on Saturday.
In his statement, the president also urged relevant agencies responsible for enforcing traffic regulations to implement stronger measures aimed at preventing future tanker explosions across the country.
The explosion occurred when a fuel tanker lost control and erupted in flames while navigating the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
In a message issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives and those who were injured in the devastating incident. He prayed for the souls of the departed and wished a swift recovery for those receiving medical treatment.
The president further called for greater caution on the roads and emphasized the importance of adherence to safety measures, especially among fuel tanker drivers and operators.
