JUSUN Suspends 3-Week Strike In Abia
The Abia State branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has suspended its over three-week industrial action, which began on January 2.
The suspension followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Abia State government and the leadership of the union in Umuahia at the weekend.
According to the MoU, all issues regarding the implementation of the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure, which had been the main point of contention, have been resolved.
A statement from the Commissioner for Information in the state, Okey Kanu, confirmed that the government has already initiated arrangements to pay the judicial workers.
“The government, therefore, expects that the ongoing strike will be called off immediately to allow for the reopening of our courts,” the statement read.
In response, LEADERSHIP gathered that the union’s executive is set to convene a congress soon to officially call off the strike.
