NIPR Appoints Badejo-Okunsanya As NRMG Board Chairman
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has appointed Chief Yomi Badejo-Okunsanya, the immediate past president of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), as the new chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG).
Joining Badejo-Okunsanya in leadership roles are Hajiya Lami Tumaka as 1st Vice Chairman and Dr. Alice Ajeh as 2nd Vice Chairman. These appointments follow the successful launch of the NRMG in Abuja on October 15, 2024. The NRMG is an initiative by NIPR aimed at addressing reputational issues hindering Nigeria’s growth and development.
In a statement issued to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, NIPR’s Director of Public Relations, Stanley Ogadigo, announced the appointments.
During the virtual inauguration of the NRMG Committee, NIPR President Dr. Ike Neliaku stressed the importance of the nation’s reputation, emphasizing its value as a strategic asset in global trade.
Chief Badejo-Okunsanya, who was approved by the NIPR Governing Council during its 117th meeting, will lead a 17-member team of experts, including Malam Jibrin Baba-Ndace, Prof. Okey Ikechukwu, Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, and H.E. Amb. Tope Elias-Fatile. Other notable members include Dr. Nkechi Ali-Balogun, Alhaji Sadiq Kassim, Mr. Franklyn Ginger-Eke, Chief Tokunbo Modupe, and Chief Moji Makanjuola, among others.
The board also includes representatives from the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Lawal Oluwatosin Kafayat, and the NIPR Young Professionals Hub, represented by Mr. Nanfa Nandap. A nominee from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also join, though the appointment is still awaited.
The NRMG Board is expected to work closely with the NIPR Council and other partners to establish the Nigeria Reputation House, among other responsibilities aimed at improving Nigeria’s global reputation.
