BREAKING: Gov Mutfwang Sacks 5 Cabinet Members

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has carried out a significant shake-up in his cabinet by dismissing five members. Although no official reason was given for their removal, sources suggest the move may be linked to underperformance over the past year.

A statement from the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Architect Samuel Jatau, confirmed the dismissal of the affected officials, effective immediately. The statement also conveyed the governor’s appreciation for their service to the state, wishing them success in their future political endeavors.

The commissioners relieved of their duties include:

  • Chrysanthus Dawam, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning
  • Noel Nkup, Commissioner for Youth and Sports
  • Jamila Tukur, Commissioner for Tourism and Hospitality
  • Obed Goselle, Commissioner for Science and Technology
  • Sule Musa, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry

It is worth noting that Dawam and Tukur had both faced a three-month suspension last year for undisclosed reasons.

Governor Mutfwang has also approved the appointment of new commissioners to replace the dismissed officials. These new appointees include:

  • Sunday Alex from Bassa Local Government Area
  • Joyce Ramnap from Langtang South
  • Sylvanus Dongtoe from Shendam
  • Nicholas Baamlong from Qua’an Pan
  • Cornelius Doeyok also from Qua’an Local Government Area

The former commissioners were thanked for their service, and the new appointees will take up their roles immediately.

This cabinet reshuffle has stirred discussions within political circles, with analysts speculating about potential changes in the state’s governance and the broader implications of the shake-up.
