Dogara’s Attack On Gov Mohammed Misguided, Says Bauchi Speaker
The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has criticized the recent remarks by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, accusing him of making a “verbose, baseless, and self-serving diatribe” against Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Suleiman rejected Dogara’s allegations, claiming they were nothing more than an attempt to damage the reputation of a leader committed to the state’s progress. He described Governor Mohammed as a statesman whose leadership is based on public service rather than personal or political gain.
Suleiman went on to refute Dogara’s claims regarding Governor Mohammed’s financial capacity during his 2018 governorship campaign, emphasizing that the governor’s victory was the result of collective support, not personal wealth. “Unlike politicians who rely solely on personal wealth, Governor Bala Mohammed’s leadership thrives on inclusivity and transparency,” he stated, adding that the governor’s success was built on trust.
The Speaker also addressed allegations that Governor Mohammed had failed to support other party candidates, calling it dishonest. He stressed that the governor had always worked toward unity within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and across the state. He further dismissed claims of any serious grievances between Governor Mohammed and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, labeling them as distractions.
Suleiman also pointed to the governor’s numerous achievements, including advancements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education in Bauchi, which he argued have contributed to the state’s transformation under Mohammed’s leadership.
Concluding, Suleiman urged politicians to focus on constructive dialogue rather than resorting to personal attacks. He reaffirmed that Governor Mohammed’s work and achievements speak louder than any negative remarks from his critics, warning that Dogara’s approach undermined meaningful political discussions.
