Israel Suspends Palestinian Prisoner Release Amid Ceasefire Truce

Israel has halted the release of Palestinian prisoners, disrupting the ongoing third round of hostage-prisoner exchanges under the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Army Radio reported on Thursday.

According to the broadcast, Israeli political leaders have decided to suspend the operation “until further notice.”

“The political echelon announced the suspension of the operation to release the terrorists until further notice,” a security source told Army Radio.

The reasons behind the sudden suspension remain unclear, with Israeli authorities yet to provide an official explanation.

The temporary truce, brokered to allow the exchange of hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody, had led to several releases in recent days. However, this new decision has raised concerns about the continuation of the prisoner swap process.
