Obasanjo, Arapaja Pay Condolence Visit To Makinde Over Brother’s Death

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, alongside other prominent figures, paid a condolence visit to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde following the death of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde, who passed away on January 24, 2025, at the age of 65.

Obasanjo visited the Governor’s private residence in Ibadan in the early hours of Thursday to offer his sympathies and to stand in solidarity with the grieving family.

In addition to Obasanjo, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by National Deputy Chairman Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, also visited Governor Makinde to express their condolences. During their visit, the NWC briefed the governor on the recent rancour at the PDP national secretariat and assured him that efforts were underway to resolve the issues for the party’s unity and future success in the next general elections.

Ambassador Arapaja, in his condolence message, highlighted that Engineer Sunday Makinde led a fulfilled life, a legacy seen in his brother Governor Makinde. He prayed for the deceased’s eternal rest and offered strength to the Makinde family during this difficult time.
