Police Arrest Terrorist’s Wife and Associates, Foil Security Threats in Kano
The Kano State Police Command has arrested the wife and two associates of Ahmad Adam Abba, a wanted Chadian terrorist, who is accused of masterminding the killing of 17 people in Chad and attempting to establish a terror base in Kano.
The suspects include Abba’s 42-year-old wife, a Chadian national named Jibrin Mohammed, and a Nigerian accomplice, whose identity remains undisclosed. They are currently in police custody.
At a press briefing held at the Bompai Police Headquarters in Kano on Friday, Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, confirmed the arrests and explained that while Abba, the prime suspect, had fled Nigeria, investigations to dismantle his terrorist network are still underway.
“The arrests were made following a detailed investigation and intelligence-driven policing,” CP Garba stated. “They are currently in custody, and our investigation continues.”
The arrests came after the Kano Police issued a security alert on January 24, urging the public to report any suspicious activities after receiving intelligence about the presence of suspected terrorists in the state. In response, the police successfully recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and ramped up their intelligence-gathering efforts.
CP Garba stressed the importance of cooperation between the police, intelligence agencies, and the public to maintain security in Kano. He reassured residents of the police’s commitment to keeping the state safe, saying, “Patrols have been intensified, and surveillance measures enhanced in key areas. We will continue our awareness programs to educate the public on the importance of reporting suspicious activities.”
The commissioner also thanked the Kano State Government and local residents for their ongoing support, encouraging them to remain vigilant and proactive in sharing vital information with the authorities.
