Fraud: NCAA Revokes Operating Licences of 2 Operators

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revoked the Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) of Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation following violations related to falsification and alteration of essential aviation documents.

The revoked certificates are OBA/AOC/12-15/002 for Omni-Blu Aviation and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 for Eastwind Aviation. This action is part of the NCAA’s efforts to sanitize the aviation sector, especially following recent incidents involving Max Air aircraft.

According to the NCAA, investigations revealed that both companies had engaged in fraudulent activities concerning their applications, licences, and operational records. This breach is in violation of Part 1.2.1.5 of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs), which deals with the falsification, reproduction, or alteration of key aviation documents.

Under Part 1.2.1.5(b) of Nig. CARs, such violations are punishable by sanctions, including the revocation of air operator certificates, which the NCAA has now implemented.

This move is part of the NCAA’s ongoing efforts to uphold high standards, ensuring that aviation operators in Nigeria comply with safety and regulatory requirements.

Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, stated: “The Authority has determined that both Omni-Blu Aviation and Eastwind Aviation are in violation of Part 1.2.1.5 of Nig. CARs on Falsification, Reproduction, or Alteration of Applications, Licences, Certificates, Logbooks, Reports, or Records. Consequently, the respective Air Operator Certificates OBA/AOC/12-15/002 and EAL/AOC/03-24/001 are hereby revoked.”
