Kano Community Celebrates As Minister Launches Skill Acquisition Training
The people of Karaye Local Government Area in Kano State were filled with excitement and joy as the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, officially flagged off the MOWA-SARA skills acquisition project aimed at empowering women to achieve financial independence and self-sufficiency.
In partnership with Wema Bank Plc, the initiative seeks to impact the lives of 500,000 women nationwide, focusing on key areas such as vocational training, access to markets, digital skills, and business entrepreneurship.
The event, which attracted a large crowd, was graced by the Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Mahraz Karaye, and other community leaders. The skill acquisition center, strategically located in Karaye, was equipped with the necessary amenities, including water, electricity, and modern training equipment such as computers for ICT training and various industrial machines for hands-on skills like grinding, slicing, and dehydrating.
In her remarks, Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasized that the project was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to women’s empowerment across the country. She encouraged the beneficiaries to value the skills they had acquired and make the most of the opportunities provided to them.
The Minister also expressed her hope that empowered women would not only uplift their families but also contribute positively to their communities and the nation at large.
During the event, Sulaiman-Ibrahim toured the newly established center with dignitaries, including the Emir of Karaye, and later symbolically distributed starter packs and food items to various women’s groups in the community.
The event was met with overwhelming gratitude from the Karaye community, who showered praises on the Minister for choosing their local government as the site for this transformative initiative. The atmosphere was one of celebration, as the people eagerly embraced the empowerment that came with the training.
