Police Rescue Woman from Suspected Ritualist and Armed Robber in Abuja Hotel

Police officers from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have successfully rescued 25-year-old Promise Eze from a suspected armed robber and ritualist at a hotel in Wuse District, Abuja.

Promise was lured to the hotel after meeting the suspect, Emmanuel Okoro (also known as Michael Prince), online. They had arranged to meet at the hotel, but what was supposed to be an innocent meeting turned into a terrifying ordeal.

Upon reaching the hotel, officers discovered Promise tied to a chair, stripped of clothing, and in a state of unconsciousness. The police responded to a distress call from the hotel at around 11:30 AM on January 31, 2025, reporting suspicious behavior in one of the rooms.

According to FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, “When we arrived, we found the victim, Promise Eze from Ebonyi State, bound to a small chair with her mouth taped shut. She was unconscious and in urgent distress. Our officers acted swiftly, freeing her and immediately taking her to Wuse District Hospital, where she was revived.”

Investigations revealed a disturbing sequence of events. Promise had checked into the hotel the day before, on January 30, 2025, accompanied by a man who introduced himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State. The victim later revealed that she had met him online, where he went by the name Michael Prince and claimed to work for an oil company in Delta State. After initially inviting her to Delta, the two decided to meet in Abuja instead.

But what began as a simple meeting quickly escalated into violence. The suspect allegedly threatened Promise with a dagger, bound her hands and feet, and taped her mouth shut inside the hotel bathroom. He then fled the scene, taking her two mobile phones. Before leaving, he was heard discussing plans with accomplices over the phone, indicating he intended to return to complete his crime.

The FCT Police Command has launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice. FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, condemned the act and urged residents, especially young women, to be cautious when meeting strangers.

CP Disu reassured the public that the FCT Police remain dedicated to protecting the safety of all residents and called for anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward. The public can contact the police through the following:
