JUST-IN: Again, Gunmen Strike In Ondo, Kidnap 7 Travellers
Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have again attacked and kidnapped no fewer than seven travellers in the state.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the victims were abducted while travelling in a commercial bus from the South-South region of the country on Sunday.
It was also gathered that the victims were abducted in the Owo/Ipele area along the Benin-Owo highway in Ondo North Senatorial District of the state.
The victims who were said to have been accosted and forced to stop by the gunmen, were immediately marched into the bush by their abductors while their vehicle was abandoned by the roadside.
According to a source, other travellers who saw the victims’ bus abandoned by the roadside in a manner suggesting that the vehicle was not well parked, observed that the luggages of the travellers were left in the bus.
However, the kidnappers were said to have contacted the families of the victims and demanded a huge amount of money for their release.
The abductors have also threatened to kill the victims if their demands were not met by their families.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident.
Odunlami-Omisanya, however, said information at the disposal of the Police Command revealed that seven persons were abducted by the unknown gunmen.
