Kano Assembly Passes Law for State-Owned Security Outfit

The Kano State House of Assembly has officially passed a law to establish a state-owned security outfit, marking a significant move towards enhancing security in the region.

The law empowers the new security force to carry arms, arrest individuals, prevent crimes, and apprehend offenders throughout Kano State. This development followed a series of debates over key provisions of the law, with one of the most debated clauses preventing any individual affiliated with a political party from heading the security outfit.

Hon. Lawan Husaini Dala, the Majority Leader of the House, emphasized that the legislation underwent thorough review to ensure that it benefits all sectors of the state. He reassured the public that the leadership of the security outfit will be entrusted to a non-partisan indigene of Kano State, ensuring neutrality and fairness in its operations.
