Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the immediate suspension of the ongoing demolition exercise in Rimin Zakara community, located in Ungogo Local Government Area, following a tragic clash between residents and security agents that led to the deaths of three individuals and injuries to several others.
In response to the tragedy, Governor Yusuf visited the community on Thursday to offer condolences to the families of the deceased. He announced that the state government would assist the affected families and cover medical expenses for those injured during the violent incident.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf condemned the use of live ammunition by security personnel against civilians, emphasizing that such actions were unacceptable. He further announced the establishment of an investigative committee tasked with uncovering the details of the incident and identifying the individuals responsible for the deaths and injuries.

Additionally, Governor Yusuf outlined a broad development plan for Rimin Zakara, which includes connecting the community to the national electricity grid, installing solar-powered boreholes, establishing a primary healthcare center, and improving access roads to the area.
The governor also summoned the authorities of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), to his office and urged them to resolve the longstanding land dispute between the university and the Rimin Zakara community, a matter that has persisted for over 40 years.
