Kidnappers Demand ₦250m Ransom for Former NYSC DG’s Release
The kidnappers of Brig.-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga, the former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have demanded a ₦250 million ransom for his release.
A family member confirmed that the abductors made contact on Thursday night, demanding the large sum in exchange for Tsiga’s freedom.
Tsiga was abducted on Wednesday from his hometown, Tsiga, located in the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. Armed with sophisticated weapons, the gunmen raided his residence, injuring two people and inadvertently killing one of their own during the attack.
The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the abduction, reassuring the public that security forces are working tirelessly to secure Tsiga’s release.
Police spokesperson Abubakar Sadiq mentioned that officers responded quickly to the scene but arrived after the kidnappers had already taken the victim. He added that security efforts have been intensified, with authorities collaborating with relevant parties to apprehend those responsible.
Additionally, the command reported the arrest of 45 suspects involved in various criminal activities across the state.
