Police Dismiss Three Officers in Abia Over Misconduct
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed three officers from the Abia State Command due to their involvement in alleged conspiracy, abduction, and extortion, effective February 7.
The officers in question are Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi (No. 501356) from the Area Command in Aba; Corporal James Daniel (No. 511844) from the Department of Operations in Umuahia; and Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka (No. 511853) from the Eziama Division.
The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the dismissal on Saturday in Umuahia. She added that the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, had approved the officers’ removal from the force.
“Their official uniforms and accoutrements have been seized by the Command’s Provost, and they are no longer members of the Police Force,” Chinaka said.
This action followed an internal disciplinary process after the officers were arrested along with two civilians by the Divisional Police Officer of Abayi on January 29.
The PPRO further emphasized that CP Isa has reaffirmed the command’s firm stance against corruption and other unprofessional behaviors, underscoring that discipline and professionalism are core values within the Police Force.
“He reiterated that the command will not tolerate any form of misconduct and remains fully committed to the Inspector General of Police’s vision for a competent, service-driven, law-abiding, and people-friendly police force,” she concluded.
