Adeboye: ‘Activism Is Not Craziness,’ VDM Lambasts Detained TikToker SeaKing
Social media critic Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has expressed his strong disapproval of a viral video in which Nigerian TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, also known as SeaKing, insulted the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, by calling him a “useless boy.”
VDM, in a video posted on his social media platform, condemned SeaKing’s actions, stating that, regardless of any provocation, it was wrong to insult a revered figure like Pastor Adeboye, especially given the cleric’s age and position. He added that activism should not be equated with disrespect or craziness.
The incident has drawn significant attention, with SeaKing being arrested for allegedly cyber-bullying the 82-year-old cleric. However, Pastor Adeboye clarified on Friday night that he was not involved in the TikToker’s arrest, and he called for SeaKing’s immediate release. Despite this, reactions continue to pour in regarding SeaKing’s actions.
VDM, while advocating for SeaKing’s release, sharply criticized him for the insult, particularly as Pastor Adeboye is old enough to be his grandfather. He emphasized that such disrespect towards an elderly figure was completely unacceptable.
“Calling him a ‘useless boy’—someone of that age—is crazy, I don’t care what level of activism you are in,” VDM remarked in the video.
He further added in a caption accompanying the video, “While we are saying they should free him, we should also condemn this. How can you call Pastor Adeboye that? Come on now.”
In his post, VDM also reiterated that while he supported the TikToker’s release, he emphasized that SeaKing needed to be advised against insulting elderly individuals. “You can call VeryDarkMan a useless boy, but you cannot call Adeboye a useless boy,” he declared.
The controversy has sparked a wider conversation about the limits of activism and the importance of respect for elders, especially those who have contributed significantly to the spiritual and social fabric of society.
