Gov Yusuf Appoints Umar Ibrahim as New Kano SSG

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has named Umar Farouk Ibrahim as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

The appointment, which takes effect on Monday, February 10, 2025, was officially announced in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.

The statement emphasized Ibrahim’s impressive public service career, spanning over 30 years, and highlighted his potential to strengthen the state’s administrative structure and further its development goals.

Ibrahim’s career in public service began in 1987, where he held several key leadership positions that have shaped the governance and administrative processes in Kano State. From 2001 to 2015, he served as the Permanent Secretary for Research, Evaluation, and Political Affairs in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, playing a vital role in policy formulation and execution.

He also served as Permanent Secretary for the Administration and General Services Directorate from 2015 to 2016. In addition, Ibrahim briefly acted as Secretary to the State Government during official leaves in 2013 and 2014.

Ibrahim has been involved in numerous high-level committees, such as the Coordinating Committee on Independent Power and the Committee on the Identification and Sale of Government Property.

A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Ibrahim holds a B.Sc in Political Science and is further qualified with multiple professional certifications.

Governor Yusuf expressed his full confidence in Ibrahim’s vast experience and strategic acumen, believing that he will play a pivotal role in advancing the administration’s vision for the future of Kano State.
