Dangote Begins Assembling Peugeot 3008 GT In Kaduna
Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN) has officially commenced the assembly of the Peugeot 3008 GT model at its Kaduna facility, signaling a new chapter in the company’s efforts to reclaim a leading position in Nigeria’s automotive market. The company also announced plans to launch the Peugeot Landtrek 4×2 pickup truck into the light commercial market.
This move follows DPAN’s ambitious strategy to reinvigorate the Peugeot brand in Nigeria, which was once a dominant player in the auto industry during the 80s and early 90s. Peugeot was taken over by DPAN, a joint venture between Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), the Kaduna, Plateau, and Kebbi State governments, and Stellantis Group, the technical partner and parent company of Peugeot.
The assembly of the Peugeot 3008 GT model, which is equipped with a 1.6-litre high-performance turbo engine, expands the line-up of vehicles produced at DPAN’s modern plant in Kaduna. The Peugeot 3008 GT joins a growing range of “Made-in-Nigeria Peugeot” vehicles that includes the popular Peugeot 301 Sedan and the Peugeot 5008, a spacious seven-seater SUV known for its stylish design and advanced technology.
In addition, DPAN is preparing for the upcoming launch of the Peugeot Landtrek 4×2 pickup truck. This vehicle, which features a rear-wheel-drive system and a 2.4-litre engine, is part of the rugged Peugeot Landtrek truck range. DPAN has also hinted at the potential introduction of a 4×4 version of the Landtrek in the future.
Umar Isa-Kaita, Chief Commercial Officer of Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN), highlighted the unique features and advantages of the Peugeot 3008 GT. He emphasized the vehicle’s luxurious design, including a driver lumbar adjustment with a massage seat, automatic transmission, Bluetooth telephony for hands-free calling, cruise control for long-distance drives, and safety features such as auto headlights, fog lamps, day-running lights, a sunroof, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Isa-Kaita also pointed out that the Peugeot 3008 GT is designed with the Nigerian market in mind, ensuring that both active and passive safety features meet local needs while providing a comfortable and premium driving experience.
