Wike Assures Compensation for Communities Affected by FCT Road Projects

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured communities affected by the ongoing road construction projects in Abuja that compensation has been fully settled. He also announced plans to improve the waste management system, particularly in the satellite towns of the capital.

During an inspection tour of ongoing road projects, Wike confirmed that the compensation process for affected residents had been completed, with the Resettlement Department overseeing the process. He emphasized that additional measures, such as improving water supply systems, were being implemented, including the completion of a 5,000-litre water supply system expected this week.

Wike praised the work being carried out by contractors like Julius Berger and CGC, expressing confidence that all road construction projects would be completed on schedule by May.

Addressing the issue of waste management, Wike acknowledged the need for improvement in satellite towns and revealed that new contractors had been shortlisted to manage sanitation services. The new contractors, he said, would ensure cleaner streets and a more efficient waste disposal system across the FCT.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and community welfare, Wike assured residents that all necessary interventions were being made to enhance their quality of life in the Federal Capital Territory.
