Kwara Poly To Begin Degree Programmes
The Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has announced plans to launch degree programmes in collaboration with the University of Ilorin. This initiative aims to offer more opportunities for students in the state to pursue higher education and reduce the burden on the university’s admission system.
Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, the Rector of the Polytechnic, shared this development during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin. He confirmed that the preparations for the degree programmes were progressing well and that the programmes would soon commence under the university’s affiliation.
The proposed degree programmes are expected to cover various fields of study, offering students the opportunity to earn university degrees through the Polytechnic’s collaboration with the University of Ilorin. This partnership is seen as a significant step toward expanding access to quality higher education in the state.
Dr. Muhammed also mentioned that the University of Ilorin’s affiliation team, led by Prof. Yahaya Imam, recently conducted a resource inspection at Kwara Poly to assess the facilities and resources available, ensuring the institution meets the necessary requirements for the affiliation. He expressed gratitude for the university’s positive feedback on the Polytechnic’s initiative to broaden its academic offerings.
The introduction of 13 new degree programmes is expected to provide a considerable boost to the educational landscape in Kwara State, addressing the growing demand for university education while maintaining quality standards.
