NSCDC Parades Three Suspects for Illegal Revenue Collection and Vandalism in Kogi
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kogi State Command, has paraded three suspects in connection with illegal revenue collection and vandalism of electricity assets in the state.
Two suspects, Musa Baba, 52, and Muhammed Usman, 32, were arrested on Tuesday, February 11, for illegally selling tickets to motorcycle riders at Paparanda Square in Lokoja. NSCDC spokesperson Abdullahi Aliyu accused the duo of criminal conspiracy and illegal revenue collection, actions that violate the state’s laws. Baba, during questioning, claimed he had obtained the tickets from an individual named El-Bashir, who he believed to be an accredited revenue consultant for the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS). However, the Acting Chairman of KGIRS, Emmanuel Yusufu, clarified that the only accredited consultant is A’S Consulting, led by Mr. Adebayo Daramola. Nasir Rahman Ichanyi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Revenue, warned against illegal revenue collection, emphasizing that violators would face severe legal consequences.
Additionally, the NSCDC paraded a third suspect, Abba Sabo, 34, for conspiracy, vandalism, and receiving stolen property. Sabo allegedly collaborated with Friday Stephen, who specializes in vandalizing electricity assets owned by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) along Wada Road in Ganaga Village. Stephen, who is still at large, is said to have sold stolen materials to Sabo. The NSCDC has pledged to continue its efforts to track down Stephen.
All three suspects are expected to face charges in court after the completion of investigations. The NSCDC also reiterated its commitment to enforcing the state government’s ban on unauthorized revenue collection.
