Imo APC Spokesperson Duke Resigns
Cajethan Duke, the spokesperson of the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced his immediate resignation from his position, stating that it is time for him to focus on the broader interests of the people rather than continue serving the party.
Duke shared his resignation letter on Facebook, confirming his decision to step down on February 14, 2025. The letter, addressed to the APC State Chairman, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve but emphasized his desire to move beyond partisan sentiments.
“Please accept this letter as a formal notice of my resignation from the position of State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Imo State effective Friday, February 14, 2025,” Duke stated in his resignation letter. He further explained that after consulting with his family and political associates, he made the decision to focus on the broader interests of the people.
Duke’s resignation came with an expression of thanks to the APC leadership and members for their support, acknowledging the relationships built and the experiences gained while serving the party.
In a separate post, Barrister Kissinger Ikeokwu, a former Legal Adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, commented on Duke’s resignation, describing him as a gentleman who was relegated in the party despite his dedication. Ikeokwu expressed disappointment over the treatment Duke received, especially considering his contributions to the APC.
He lamented, “The treatment meted out on Cajethan Duke, who has served APC dutifully as its State Publicity Secretary, is one thing I cannot understand. Even as a member of the Imo APC State Working Committee, he and his colleagues have been relegated to the background and treated as nonexistent.”
Ikeokwu also emphasized Duke’s qualities of meekness and style, highlighting how his demeanor would even convince someone to join APC, despite political differences.
Sources have suggested that more resignations from the party’s leadership in Imo may be forthcoming in the coming weeks, although the reasons for these potential resignations remain unclear.
