LP Mourns Adebanjo, Says Late Yoruba Leader Stood for Justice

The Labour Party (LP) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the late leader of Afenifere, calling him a fearless statesman who stood for justice. In a tribute, the LP’s Director General of Mobilization and Integration, Marcel Ngogbehei, praised Adebanjo for his unwavering commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and the restructuring of Nigeria.

The statement described Adebanjo as a principled nationalist, advocating for a Nigeria built on justice, equity, and inclusivity—values that align with the Labour Party’s vision for a new Nigeria. Even in his later years, Adebanjo’s voice remained a beacon of wisdom and courage, challenging injustice and supporting progressive governance.

Ngogbehei also reaffirmed the LP’s solidarity with the Yoruba nation and all Nigerians as they mourn the loss of this icon. He added that the Labour Party would continue to uphold the principles Adebanjo fought for in the pursuit of a just and fair society. The LP, led by Barr. Julius Abure, remains committed to the legacy of justice and leadership that Adebanjo championed.
