Robbers Raid UI’s Female Hostel
In the early hours of Saturday, robbers raided Awolowo Hall at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, where they stole valuables worth thousands of naira from students. The stolen items included mobile phones, jewelry, clothing, and other personal belongings.
Reports indicate that the students were harassed during the raid, which lasted for several hours. According to a source within the university, the security team was alerted by the students’ screams and responded promptly. Some of the robbers were apprehended and handed over to the police at Sango Police Station. A manhunt is ongoing for the remaining suspects who managed to escape.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the incident, stating that reports from hall wardens indicated that the robbers primarily targeted the students’ mobile phones.
