Police Arraign Three Passengers Over Alleged Disruptive Behavior on Air Peace Flight
The Lagos State Police Command on Friday arraigned three passengers before a Magistrate’s Court in Ikeja for allegedly causing a disruption aboard Air Peace Flight No. P4 7579, which was traveling from London to Lagos.
The three passengers, identified as Adewale Adedigba (52), Magnis Ashibuogwu (50), and Iwunze Benjamin (30), were arrested following an incident on February 12, 2025, around 8 p.m., when they reportedly engaged in loud shouting, creating panic and disturbing both passengers and crew.
The police have charged the trio with breaching public peace under Section 168(1)(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. Additional allegations include unlawfully moving from their assigned seats in economy class to the business class section of the plane, without authorization, in violation of Section 4(1)(a)(b) of the FAAN Bye-Law 2005.
The airline staff quickly intervened, and the matter was reported upon landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja.
During the court hearing, the prosecution, led by SP Oladipupo Taiwo, called for strict enforcement of aviation laws to prevent future disruptions. However, the defendants did not enter a plea, and the magistrate adjourned the case to March 3, 2025, for further proceedings.
The adjournment allows both the prosecution and defense to prepare their arguments. If convicted, the defendants could face fines or imprisonment.
