‘It’s Lie From Pit of Hell’, Lagos Speaker Meranda Denies Resignation Rumour
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has vehemently denied rumours suggesting that she has resigned from her position.
Meranda’s Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, swiftly dismissed the claims on Wednesday, stating that the Speaker is currently carrying out her duties in her office.
“I’m in the office. The Speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from,” Ajiboye said.
He strongly rejected the resignation rumours, calling the story “a lie from the pit of hell,” and confirmed that Meranda had not resigned, nor does she have any plans to do so.
The confusion appears to have stemmed from a fake letter circulating on social media, allegedly dated February 17, 2025, in which Meranda was said to have resigned. However, investigations into the document revealed that it was unsigned and fabricated.
The Lagos State House of Assembly has been experiencing significant leadership tensions since the removal of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, by a majority of lawmakers, but Meranda’s office remains unaffected by the claims.
