JUST-IN: Finally, Singer Portable Surrenders To Police
Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself in to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Yaba.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on Wednesday. He stated, “Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up.”
Portable’s surrender follows a warrant issued for his arrest by the Ogun State Police Command. He is accused of leading a violent attack on government officials who were performing their lawful duties at his bar.
The incident involved three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office, namely TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi. These officials were carrying out an enforcement mission at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota when they were confronted and attacked by Portable and his associates.
In response to the police declaration, Portable took to Instagram, claiming that he was being set up because he wore a vest featuring the face of Senator Adeola Solomon, widely known as Yayi. The singer also stated that he regularly receives treatment for his mental health at Aro Psychiatric Hospital, presenting himself as a “madman.”
The police are now in the process of coordinating with the Ogun State Command to take Portable into their custody for further investigation.
