SSCE: NECO Accredits More Schools In Equatorial Guinea

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has recently accredited more schools in Equatorial Guinea to participate in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). These newly accredited schools are located in Bata, the largest city in Equatorial Guinea.

According to LEADERSHIP, this expansion adds to the growing number of countries where NECO examinations are now recognized. In addition to Equatorial Guinea, candidates in countries such as Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are also now able to sit for the NECO exams.

Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NECO, confirmed that an accreditation team recently visited the schools in Equatorial Guinea to assess their readiness. The team evaluated various facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer labs, workshops, sports facilities, and the security of the institutions. They also assessed the adequacy of teachers and the schools’ continuous assessment systems.

“After a thorough evaluation and comprehensive assessment, the schools were granted full SSCE and full BECE accreditation status,” Sani said.

This move is seen as a testament to NECO’s commitment to expanding its reach and providing quality education and assessments outside Nigeria. The accreditation is part of NECO’s broader goal to become a leading examination body in Africa and offer educational opportunities to both Nigerian students and others worldwide.

The expanded international presence further solidifies NECO’s role in contributing to educational development in Africa and beyond.
